Grocery List
Estimated Cost: $60
Produce
- 4 apples (my favorite is organic Gala)
- 2 lbs. small tomatoes (you’ll need these to be very ripe when you use them)
- 1 large jalapeno
- 1 bunch cilantro
- 1 lime
- 1 bunch green onions
- a small piece of ginger
- 1 head garlic
- 1 head lettuce
- ¼ cup red onion
Meat
- ½ lb. boneless, skinless chicken breast
- Eight 2 oz. chicken thighs
Pantry
- 8 small tortillas, white or wheat (get homemade, if possible!)
- 1 can pinto beans
- apricot preserves
- 1 large can crushed tomatoes
- 1 small can diced tomatoes
- 16 oz. pasta (we used spaghetti, but any type would be great)
- Brown rice
Dairy
- ½ cup parmesan cheese
- cheese for grilled cheese (we used Colby jack because we had it on hand)
- ½ cup shredded cheese (we used cheddar because we had it on hand)
- ¼ bleu cheese crumbles
- 2 tbs. butter
- ½ cup cream
Bakery
- 1 loaf multi-grain bread (get this from a bakery, if at all possible!)
Liquor
- 2 shots vodka (we use Tito’s vodka)
On-hand Items
As always, there are several items that you will need and are not on this week’s grocery list. Be sure you have the following on hand: salt, pepper, basalmic vinegar, cooking spray, soy sauce, grapeseed oil, cayenne pepper, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, olive oil, dried basil, dried parsley, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes.
