Grocery List
Estimated Cost: $60
Produce
- 2 heads garlic
- 2 sweet potatoes
- 1 bunch scallions
- 1 bunch radishes
- 1 bunch cilantro
- 1 jalapeno
- 1 lime
- 1 large container field greens (you’ll use them for 3 meals)
- 6 tomatoes
- 2 yellow onions
- 4 pears
- 2 cups baby spinach
Meat
- 1 lbs. boneless and skinless chicken breasts
- 1 lb. thinly sliced steak
Pantry
- 1 large can crushed tomatoes
- 1 small can tomato sauce (I think it is 8 oz)
- 2 cans black beans with no added salt
- 1 jar sun-dried tomatoes in oil
- ½ cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
- 1 package whole wheat tortillas
Dairy
- 1 small container mascarpone cheese
- 2 tbs. butter
- ¼ cup parmesan cheese
- 1 medium container sour cream (I recommend using Daisy brand)
- ¼ cup bleu cheese crumbles
- 1 cup provolone
- eggs (you need 2)
Bakery
- 1 small loaf of bread (I like to buy an unsliced loaf of Rustic Italian Bread from Whole Foods for 99 cents)
- 1 long french baguette
Refrigerated
- 1 package fresh pasta (judge amount of pasta based on portions needed)
- 1 package ready-made pizza dough
Grocery Notes
If you want to save a bit of cash this week, you could sub dried pasta for the fresh pasta and you could remove the mascarpone cheese from the sauce to make it a regular tomato sauce. You could also use dried black beans (remember to soak them overnight before using) in place of canned beans.
Pantry Items
As always, there are several pantry items that you will need and are not on this week’s grocery list. Be sure you have the following on hand: dried basil, dried parsely, dried oregano, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, garlic powder, cumin, all-purpose flour, olive oil, grapeseed oil, and basalmic vinegar.
