Finally! I am awake and moving before 5:30! I've had such a difficult time waking up for the last two weeks. I don't know what it's been, because I haven't been that tired...my subconscious must be exhausted. 🙂 Anyway, this is why I've been a little slacker-esque about the daily post (daily post at...2:00pm??  Suuure...). But I'm awake, I'm here, and I've got my coffee in hand!
I never used to drink coffee until I started teaching at my current school. I taught for four years at a different school and never got hooked on the stuff; then I switched schools (and districts) and now it's a morning routine (maybe there's a connection?). I know caffeine gets a bit of a bad rap, but I don't care. I like to start my day with just one mug of the good stuff and then I'm good for the rest of the day. I'm currently drinking a Pinon Hazlenut blend from Sunflower. And I love it. When we got back from our honeymoon (over a year ago!!) we brought back a big bag of Hawaiian Coconut Caramel Crunch from Kauai Coffee. It was so good. Like Kauai in a cup. MMM. But then, we ran out. I switched over to a big bag of I don't know what from Costco, but it just wasn't doing it for me, so I went back to flavored delicious coffees and now I just buy them from the bulk section at Sunflower. Personally, I like my coffee with some milk (lactose free for me); I just can't do hot coffee black! (Yet, I do like iced black coffee....)
I also enjoy a glass of chai in the morning from time to time...I actually like the way the chai makes me feel. The caffeine buzz is "softer"and it doesn't make me jittery the way coffee does. (Don't worry...coffee just gives me the tiniest bit of jitters...Mom, seriously, stop worrying! 🙂 ) I'm partial to a local chai that is brewed in Boulder at Third Street Chai. Just steps away and organic! I seriously love this chai. My favorite is the Honey Vanilla, but I also enjoy the Original. If you are a chai fan you've got to check this stuff out!
Well, it's good to be back up and at 'em, thanks in part to my lovely cup o' joe (and my slight caffeine buzz). I'm headed in to work early today for our bi-weekly morning meeting...
Before I go, an update from yesterday. Remember how I thought I was most definitely finished grocery shopping for the week (after only FIVE trips to the grocery)?? Sad news for me....I had to go again last night. That makes SIX trips. I need to get back with the program!! But don't worry. I will be sure to get all those odds and ends onto this week's grocery list for you. Speaking of the Week 11 Menu and Grocery List (which will be posted tomorrow morning!), I'm truly excited to get this one posted. Despite the shopping situation, we ate GREAT this week. So many delicious meals! I think you will really like them too, so be sure to check back tomorrow morning to grab your grocery list for the week!
Now before you go, what do you drink in the morning to help you get moving? Are you a coffee fan? A tea fanatic? A chai diehard?
Stephanie
I wake up with a cup o joe every morning! I have the CUTEST orange mug...and I'm serious, the mug does make a difference in the way it tastes for some reason! I love my mug because it is bigger than your average mug. I get my "one" cup and I'm perfect! I put some organic half and half and organic/fair trade evaporated cane juice. I used to LOVE Starbucks...but the last few times I've been...where I usally get a vanilla latte, it's been too darn sweet, and just not good at all really. I don't like coffe out because I can't stand the cream in packets or regular bleached sugar. I guess you can say I'm very picky at how I drink my coffee. I've even brought a bag of my own sugar out to b-fast in the morning just so I don't run into a problem haha! Something called Chicory is really popular around here. I don't care for it because the taste is just so strong to me. I guess you could say my coffee "goal" is to find a better bean. Right now I use Dunken, yes, Dunken and it's just the medium roast which is pretty good. I'd like to try something new though and more fresh! Well, speaking of...I'm going to go get my cup and catch up on Dr. Phil DVR! haha!

I agree with you, Steph, it is all about the mug! I just love cute little mugs...I had to cut myself off from buying them. 🙂 I like making my coffee at home, too. It is just the way you like it and much more affordable. Also, I've heard that Dunken is really tasty! I say that the "better bean" is whichever one makes you happy in the morning. 🙂 Hope you enjoyed Dr. Phil!!

Thank you for the comment on the new format! I think I am liking it too. If anyone has any suggestions about the format/layout, I would love to hear them! And yes, I know about you two and your coffee...haha!
