Snack #2: Homemade Granola-y Trail Mix

Snack #2: Granola-y Trail Mix

Yields around 2 cups


  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tbs. honey
  • 1 tbs. maple syrup
  • ¼ cup roasted, unsalted almonds
  • 1/4 cup roasted, unsalted sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup dried apricots, chopped
  • 1/4 c banana chips
  • 2 tbs. roasted, unsalted cashews


  1. Preheat oven to 325*
  2. Pour oats and almonds onto a parchment lined pan and spread evenly. Drizzle with honey and maple syrup. Stir, then place in oven.
  3. Bake for 10-20min stirring about every 5min.  Watch closely so it doesn’t burn.  It will still be soft when you take it out of the oven.  Look for the oats starting to brown and take it out then.
  4. Mix all other ingredients together in a medium sized bowl.
  5. Let oats cool, then add to the bowl. Mix well.
  6. Store in an airtight container.
Compared to store bought trail mix or granola, this mix is low in sugar and in sodium. It’s super easy to make and a cinch to throw together. It’s really budget friendly as well! Just make sure to get everything out of the grocery store’s bulk bins.
