Scenes from a Cooking School

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Remember how I promised Part II of the weekend? Here it is, along with some exciting news.

To tell the story properly, I’ll have to start from the beginning…

Several months ago, I was contacted by Katy, who had run across my blog online. She told me that she was in the process of opening a cooking school in Denver, and wondered if I would be interested in teaching classes part time. I was at work when I got this email, but I’m pretty sure I screamed when I read it. My answer was obviously yes, and we met several times to talk and fill out paperwork. Katy had her location in the Highlands and was in the process of construction. After several months, the construction is finally complete, the school is done (and absolutely gorgeous), our opening party has been had, and I am telling you the good news! (Whew, that was a hard one to hold in for so long! 🙂 )

Stir Cooking School is located at 3215 Zuni Street in Denver, in a great old building, complete with lots of character. It is a truly fabulous location, as so much is going on around that area! The school is designed for a bar area, cooking class area, and a commercial kitchen that produces the food for the bar. You can visit the school for a class, or just for a drink and food at the bar. And seriously, the inside of Stir makes it a place that you absolutely want to spend time in.

Enough of my talking…the photos from Stir‘s opening night tell the story better than I can:

Check out this gorgeous space!

Views from behind the bar.

Katy had these absolutely beautiful flower arrangements made for the opening party.

The front door. (I hope you’ll be walking through that door soon!)

The chalkboards, with class listings. (Do you recognize the writing? I wrote the boards!)

Katy’s mom made aprons for the classes.

Class schedules and course descriptions!

The cooking stations. Each class will hold 18 students.

How cute are the cabinet handles?!

I am in love with the backsplash and counters.

The wall of gorgeous appliances.

Vintage lunchboxes!

Beautiful and shiny All-Clad pots and pans.

Can you guess what’s in these little guys? Salt and pepper!

I so want these posters for my own house.

Upstairs. This is where classes will meet to eat their creations every night.

We had a great time at opening night, and quite a crowd turned out to help celebrate! (I gave Jason my camera to do some documenting.) Jon, Kate, Carl, and Emily were all there. (As were my parents, Jason, and my sister!)
Fabulous martinis were served.
I made lots of tacos!
My beautiful friends.
It was such a great night!
Well, there you have it! Part of my exciting news that I’ve been waiting to tell you. (I’m sorry for being such a secret-keeper.)
I’m so honored to be part of such an exciting new venture and can’t wait to get there and assist in my first class (tonight!!). If you’re interested in taking a class in this gorgeous space, head on over to Stir’s website and check it out!
