Stocking Your Kitchen

Welcome to Blackboard Kitchen!

 

Here at the Blackboard Kitchen you will find lessons on the process of cooking delicious food– from the planning and shopping to the preparing and eating of four meals each week.  My goal is to teach you to become confident in the kitchen while adhering to my basic food philosophies – that food should be budget-friendly, delicious, simple to prepare, and at least reasonably healthy.

Food should be budget-friendly. This means that you don’t have to spend as much on groceries as you do on rent in order to eat well.  Cooking on a budget is simple – you just have to be aware of what items cost and know where to go to get the best deals on certain products.

Food should be delicious. If it isn’t, who wants to eat it??!  I love to eat and I want you to love to eat what you cook!

Food should be simple to prepare. The reality is that we are busy people.  I know that many nights I don’t get home until after 7pm.  At that point, I want to make a meal that I know will be simple, tasty, and get me to bed on time.

Food should be at least reasonably healthy. A girl can’t eat salad every night, and definitely can’t eat fried food every night!  I like to create weekly menus with a good balance of food groups so that your entire body will be left feeling full and satisfied.

I believe that anyone can cook. Given the right resources (and of course the desire to do so), anyone is capable of cooking good food – and enjoying themselves while they do so.  At Blackboard Kitchen, I am committed to providing you with the resources you need in order to experience success in the kitchen. I will do all the planning and guide you each step of the way as you prepare five meals each week– all you need to do is get in that kitchen!

      What a fabulous concept, Kellie! Your writing style lends itself to the casual, you-can-do-this-too concept you’ve adopted. Your website design is well thought out, easy to navigate, and visually calming. I hate cooking, but the simplicity with which you wrote out your recipes makes me want to try again.

      Great job and thanks for showing me a way back to the kitchen.
