Wear Your Thickest Layers

Weather alert!

Ignore the wedding dress on Alyson Hanigan’s character Lily from How I Met Your Mother (do you watch that show? It’s one of our favorites.) and focus instead on that 9News line. “Bitterly cold air has arrived.” So dramatic. Ladies and gentlemen, we now interrupt your regularly scheduled program to let you know that it is fricking freezing outside. Yes, fricking freezing. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program. The drama!

Not that I’m complaining. It has to be the first time in the history of education that school in Colorado has been cancelled for being too cold. It’s not a snow, it’s a cold day! I have just enough down blankets to be happy about that. And man, will I ever need those down blankets today…

It’s currently -12 outside, with wind chill of -33. Tonight it will drop to -19. Brrrrr! Check out our super well insulated front door and window.

Yep. That’s ice. On the INSIDE of the door and window. Can’t wait to get into our warm, snug and now well-insulated house! I know that we’re not the only ones facing the Arctic’s “bitterly cold air” today. What’s it like where you live? Do you have a legit snow day today? Or an ice day? Or a cold day, like us?

We’ll be getting lots of packing done today. And making lots of good food! Last night we had an amazing Mediterranean pasta with capers and sun-dried tomatoes (recipe to come on the next weekly menu!), lunch today is grilled cheese on rosemary bread with roasted butternut squash soup, and dinner will be spaghetti with meatballs. Hello, calories and warm comfort foods. :) Stay warm today, friends!

Oh my gosh. That ice on the inside is RIDICULOUS. I’m glad you’re moving. And geez, what convenient timing for a day off. Have fun packing and transitioning. I’ll have fun at work. :)
